Set back all spring by a strained shoulder, Musgrove will finally make his Pirates debut against the Cardinals. He should be free of restrictions after a four-start rehab assignment. Musgrove lost his only career start at PNC Park on Aug. 23, 2016.
This will be the third start of the year for Gant (1-1, 4.67), who has filled in for injured veterans Adam Wainwright and Carlos Martinez. Gant allowed five runs (three earned) over 4 1/3 innings his last time out against the Phillies on Saturday.
Severino will aim to extend a seven-start unbeaten streak as he takes on the Angels, against whom he picked up a no-decision on April 27 in Anaheim. Severino is coming off a victory in Kansas City, where he pitched six innings of three-run ball.
Heaney took the loss last Friday after giving up four unearned runs over six innings against the Rays. He has pitched to a 1.45 ERA over his past five outings. In two career starts against the Yankees, Heaney is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA.
Rodriguez had an interesting stat line last time out, giving up nine hits but no runs over 5 2/3 innings while throwing 110 pitches. The lefty walked none and struck out seven. In 37 career starts at Fenway, Rodriguez is 10-9 with a 4.64 ERA.
After a pair of scoreless outings to start May, Teheran has given up 10 runs in his last two starts (11 innings), and his ERA jumped, from 3.14 to 4.17. He allowed a season-worst six runs in five innings against the Marlins during his previous start.
Romo started in back-to-back games against the Angels last weekend, throwing 2 1/3 innings in his two starts, with six strikeouts, two walks and no hits among the nine batters he faced. Right-handers are hitting .196 against him this year.
The righty hopes to rebound from a tough outing last Sunday in Boston, where he gave up three home runs over 4 2/3 innings. Hess beat the Rays with a quality start (three earned runs over six innings) in his MLB debut on May 12.
