NBA Playoff Sleeper - Bucks

This is a small market team that receives very little attention even when their record is good, but when their record is mediocre they become invisible.

Look a little deeper and it becomes apparent that this is a well-balanced and dangerous opponent. Nobody ever gets too excited about playing Milwaukee. This gives them an advantage that teams like BOS, CLE, LAL, and SAS never enjoy. They have played a brutal schedule to begin the season with most of their games on the road and half of their games without their best offensive player, Michael Redd. Even with that, they have been quite consistent and have lost very few games they should have won.

Next they play the 'Texas 2 Step' traveling to San Antonio and Houston for back to back tilts against superior opponents. Look for them to lose both games and finish 2008 at 14-19 with nobody talking about them as playoff material. Then they have a home and home against Charlotte to start the new year and it will be tough to win both those games because the Bobcats play great defense. From that point they will have good upside value and should put together a nice run to finish the season with momentum heading into the playoffs.

Since they are a sleeper team, that means they are best played as spread favorites and ML dogs which makes them a good moneymaker. Avoid backing them against bigger opponents that play slow.

I must admit this win surprised even me. It is unusual for SAS to underestimate any team but at some point we must realize that the Spurs simply are not a top tier team any longer. The NBA has grown tired of rewarding their boring style of play so they are going to need to upgrade their offensive talent.
