Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

Hi, first I want to introduce myself. My name is Mark and I'm betfair trader from Poland. Unfortunatelly our goverment is on the good way to completely make online gambling illegal in our country. They allow bookmakers to register, however rules and limitation of this registration are not able to accept for bookmakers and for me as a trader.

I'm preparing to move to country, where betfair trading is completely legal. I heard, that law in your country is very friendly in this area so I have some questions.

    1. Is online gambling and betfair completely legal in Czech Republic?
    2. Is there any tax, which I must pay from my trading income? How much in % is it? How should my prove amount of my income etc. ?

    3. If trading would be my only income if Czech Republic what kind of other taxes, fees should (must) I pay (eg. Health insurance etc.). How large are these costs?

    Best regards<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

    Hi Mark,
I think about 10% of forum members from Ostrava region can understand Polish as well btw.

Let me introduce our forum. We are small forum of professional gamblers mostly. Not all of us are betfair traders, but also live bettors at regular sporstbooks, arbers, bonus hunters and some decent sport tipsters as well.

I am co-founder of this forum. My impression about Europe is that all western civilization goes to hell. I can not speak for others, but this is impression of most other people here in offtopic discussions, from what I have seen.

Therefore when I was starting to bet I was just collecting money for final exit that started 2+ years ago. I moved to Brazil. And from what I can say it is the only way how to breathe a bit better. I was writing a blog about it for 2 years, if you are interested, I can send you a link, but it is Czech blog

Situation in CZ is the same as in whole EU I guess. Can be writen in one word: hipocricy. Gambling is illegal by one law, but legal by the other law that EU is pursuing. Gambling income is tax free, but some politicians say it is not. No one has been persecuted so far as I know. Anyways with offshore gambling account or Moneybookers and Moneybookers card... who can know about your income?

World is rough and "you can be only hustler or loser". If you do online gambling it is better just to stay away of official system. No one cares. If you have double citizenship, you are few steps more away of system, and that is the way for pro-gamblers or freelancers generally.

All that you have to pay in CZ is health insurance about 60usd/month, but as foreigner even that can be avoid. There are no fees associated with moving money, just standard bank fees. Moneybookers have for example local methods of payments or withdrawals, but only in CZK currency. Most professional bettors have bank accounts outisde of country as was mentioned.

Yes, you can get a nice address for a little money in CZ. Then you can register at most sportsbooks (just few will not give you a bonus), but that is not your concern. But as time will go, Eu will develop into the same shit as everywhere. State betting oligopoly in CZ tries hard for banning of international online gambling. It is possible that some restrictions will come soon. Maybe betting inside EU will be allowed even in future, but the question is: WHAT WILL BE EU IN FEW YEARS? Will there be a Malta or Gibraltar or even UK? Will there be reasonable taxation of sportsbooks, so sportsbooks will stay within EU or will there be a new wave of illegal offshore sportsbooks? It was France few months ago, now ban is coming to Germany, now you say Poland is in shit. Bettors from which EU country will give money to sportsbooks? The cake will be getting smaller or maybe it is happening now. Online gambling is growing, but I would be very curious about data from which countries the growth participates most. I would bet from III.rd world (who does not care) and lets really hope for it.

So my advice. If you have made some money, choose latin america, Africa, maybe some liberal regimes in Asia. If you just need an address in CZ that can be done quickly and cheap (all you need is a friend with a post box, or even Photoshop , amke an offshore bank account rather than local czech account), but do not expect it will last forever. It seems once a ban is imposed the sportsbooks react quickly and kick players out. Have a plan C for going out of EU and do not count with North America.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

    just a supplementary info
Slovakia is for sure more gambling friendly
generally you can expect no problems in both Czech and Slovak republic, but in Slovakia the law is definitely less confusing and strictly ALLOWES online gambling (correct me someone if i am wrong)

    But this is for now and mid-term future only<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

PPS. but believe me, Brazil is the best, because no one ever heard of something like betfair or betfair trading

Can you tell us what kind of limitations Polish goverment imposes that you can not find some workabout? I am very curious.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

It really does not make any sense to move abroad just to get foreign IP. Since there is plenty of VPN services (for as little as 5 USD/mth), which will provide you an IP address of that "dream country", where on-line sports betting is still legal.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

    Hi thx for all replies.

I start maybe from reason why I want to move (not use VPN). People in Poland are nosy, and they don't like when wteir neigbours earn good money, so they write a lot of delations to different departments, that their neighbour have illegal income and it is hard to live in such country where your car, house is always under oservation of jelous people.

I'm disapointed by the information from Orbital post. We in Poland thought, that in CZ about one or two years ago was special law act, that completely legalized online gambling. I also had hope that this law regulated tax issues in this area. Now I see that's not really so great as we wish. I wanted to choose CZ as a place to live, because I could live 10km from Poland and could visit my family and friends often because only 200 - 300km distance from my home.

Now about main limitations thay will apperar in Poland soon:

    - every net bookmaker must have polish domain (.pl) registered, and have servers in Poland.
    - Only Sportbook will be allowed. No casinos will be allowed.
    - Bookmaker must pay bail (over 100 000€, but I don't remember exactly how much)

and the last limit, that is completely not acceptable:

    - there will be tax (12%) but not from income It will be tax from turnover. Eg.

You bet 100€ the odd is 1.2. You win 120€ (20€ income) but you pay 12% from 120€ so you 14.4€ Tax. That makes that earning for betfair traders is completely not possible.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

Thx for info. So the turnover tax will be imposed on players not sportsbooks? Then Poland is more inovative than France or Germany. I guess the sportsbook must be responsible for collecting the tax.

Again, if you wanna get rid of jealous people, you have to go much farther than to Czech republic or middle Europe region. The nations do not differ a lot except big cities, where people of course are also jealous, but at least they do not know each other. As foreigner "investor" you should at lest from the beginning expect less problems.

There was no law that allowed online gambling in CZ. It was just a law that allowed online gambling of approx. 7 CZECH crappy sportsbooks that operate under heavy taxes and regulation. The state of international sportsbooks was unchanged and they are claimed to be illegal by authorities, although as I mentioned, no problems so far for players. The country that made sportsbetting legal was (it is said) Slovakia.

Anyways complete moving out is not as easy as it seems esp. for bettor who needs his calmness and concentration.

The only way, if you want to stay close and legal, is to apply for foreign citizenship in other country in Carribean area and/or offshore company that will "lease" money to you or to your polish company that will buy your cars, real estate etc. If this is impossible in Poland in Czech republic it is completely legal, at least in case you are politican <div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

Sory, for not completely correct info - the taxes will be imposed on sportsbooks, not on players, but as I know from experience, this tax will cause odds much lower.

You told that Slovakia legalized gambling. Do you know what kind of taxes do they have? I'm afraid of any tax from turnover. My trading style base on a lot of transactions on the same market. Eg. I earn 50Euro from one market but meanwhile I made 100 transactions on this market 50 was profitable and 50 not - this makes huge turnover but very small income compare to turnover.

I thought also about Canary Island - but it's also Europe (Spain). The main adventage of this idea is good weather <div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

Sure it does not matter who pays the tax. It will be imposed on players in the end. So Poland joined the group together with Germany and France. Very sad.

Slovakia has no turnover tax so far, but they will be inspired i am sure and Czech as well. Spain and Canary islands also. I see no point to go there, especially if you think that you must be close to your family, because Canary has both disadvantages: within EU and far from Poland.

Russian woods are both close and out of EU. Nice irony that Russia will be soon more free than Europe.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Co treba Malta ?? Ta je taky sice v EU, ale co se dani tyce, je dosti specificka.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

    yes Malta is quite specific

close to Lybia in civil war
southern Europe that is economic disaster and maybe will not be part of EU anymore
horrible winters about 10 degrees with houses not accomodated to such weather (my friend here is from Calabria and says that whole his family goes out to Switzerland during winters)
    it is a giant rock
i ma not sure if personal income tax is low in Malta, I would bet that corporate offshore income is low as in Cyprus

I do not know why some bettors want to pay taxes. It is not necessary. I have never paid anything from my gambling income and I do not see any problems. If you are paranoid then go to some Carribean state and buy citizenship. But country for living and country in which you want pay taxes is something completely different. If you are scared of government or IRS then do not read newspapers and watch TV. They can not do anything to you. If department of finance in Czech republic asks me for check, I can tell them fuck off, I live in Brazil. In Brazil no one asks me and if they ask I can tell them fuck off, I am rich foreigner and I made my money before I came here. It is advantage to emigrate to the 3rd world (at least formaly) and you do not have to proof anything to anyone. All you need is one offshore account or Moneybookers VIP and it can be done pretty quickly.

If someone has problems with jealous neighbors then just do not buy Ferrari and do not be stupid. I am driving a 15 years old Hyundai when I am in CZ and I always laugh when I look into policeman's eyes and I see: "oh you poor. We will not fine you because your lights do not work. You are probably some unemployment human loser". And I say "I am very sorry Mr. officer, after I receive my invalid pension I will fix the lights for sure" etc. Staying under the radar is best way to avoid problems in Europe. In South America it is sometimes the same (if you do not want to be robbed on streets), sometimes the oppose (if you want to make impression at offices, do not forget a nice laptop and long trousers).<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">

Re: Hello, few questions about gambling in Czech Republic

Thx for all advices. There is also one problem, that limits me. I started profesional trading about 3 months ago. My results are very good, but 3 months are not much to collect this kind amount of money to think about sth like buying citizenship of other country or Vip moneybookers account. Now I'm going to move to quite cheap European country to trade for a one or two years, maybe then I'll think about sth. like Brazil Thx for telling me about Slovakia. I think that now I must to read something about conditions and cost of life in Slovakia.<div style="font-size: xx-small;color: #0000ff;display: inline-block;text-align: center;width: 100%;">
