Starting from January 1st 2010 , international online gambling and sports betting sites will be banned in Estonia. New gambling law is harsh : only companies which have Estonian gambling licence ( it costs about 120 000 dollars) and which has servers in Estonia can continue. All ISP-s are required to BLOCK access to international betting sites ( we are like China, Cuba and Yemen now, banning websites ) !
All banks are PROHIBITED to make any transactions, which may be used as stakes on international betting sites ( this means they MUST block not only credit card transactions and bank transfers to international betting sites , but also access to e-wallets , like moneybookers, neteller etc.) All private persons are also prohibited to mediate stakes to international betting sites and/or to help gamblers to get winnings from these sites.
It means there will be only one, domestic betting site in Estonia and it is THE most crappiest site I ever saw.( no surprise,Estonian Olympic Committee is the owner of it). Perhaps some new company will appear in next year,Estonia is a small market, but businessmen can still make profit from sports betting.
Until then : bye-bye betfair, bye-bye willhill, bet365 and all others. Since ISP-s will block the sites, tennis fans cant even watch livestreams
Only good thing about it is : crappy gamblers like myself will probably save money. Overall, I lost 600 euros this year, it is not such a big deal, but it is still money
